Тексти feature в сучасній англомовній газеті: теоретичний аспект

Abstract

Мова газети – різновид мови масової інформації в її писемній формі. Розвідка сучасних англійських газет переконливо свідчить про те, що жанр feature потребує детального дослідження. Незважаючи на те, що проблема сучасних англомовних медіатекстів викликає значний інтерес для багатьох науковців, наявна інформація про текст feature не є повною і, як правило, вивчається епізодично. Наявні дослідження дають лише деякі уявлення про сутність жанру feature та його мовну природу. Метою нашої роботи є аналітичний огляд наявних підходів до визначення поняття «текст feature» і окреслення ролі та провідних функцій сучасної англомовної газети. У статті на основі аналізу наявних досліджень виділено такі основні риси мови газет, як: економія мовних засобів, стислість викладу і водночас інформативне навантаження; вживання зрозумілих слів та висловів; використання суспільно-політичної термінології; помітна наявність мовних кліше, штампів; переосмислення лексики інших функціональних стилів. Зазначено, що англомовний газетний текст відрізняється синтаксичною лаконічністю. У інтерпретації він вимагає більше фонових знань, оскільки тут має місце лапідарність висловлення, зумовлена законом економії місця і часу. Виявлено, що мові сучасної газети властива стислість викладу у поєднанні з інформаційним навантаженням та використанням мовних засобів, зрозумілих широкому колу читачів. Виокремлено такі провідні функції сучасної англомовної газети, як: інформаційна; розважальна; освітня; рекламна; ідеологічна; експресивна; емоційного впливу. Необхідно зазначити, що всі функції тісно пов’язані між собою і реалізуються в газетних публікаціях в тому чи іншому поєднанні. Визначено, що feature – це спеціальний матеріал, стаття у газетах, яка не стосується новин. Тематика таких текстів дуже різноманітна й охоплює весь спектр тем, висвітлюваних у засобах масової інформації: від політики та бізнесу до культури, спорту й освіти. Тексти жанру feature акцентують увагу читачів на нагальних проблемах сучасного суспільства та відбивають їх індивідуально-авторське бачення. Аргументовано, що вживання екзотизмів у медіатекстах використовується для привернення уваги читача та пов’язане з естетичною, експресивною та інформаційною функціями. Використання у текстах feature екзотизмів надає мові образність та робить її більш емоційною, що відповідає принципам сучасних ЗМІ. Newspaper language is a type of media language in its written form. The readings in research on modern English newspaper convincingly demonstrate that feature genre requires a profound investigation. Although the problem of media texts in English is of great interest to many scholars, the available information on the feature text is not complete and, generally, is studied sporadically. The existing papers provide only some insights into the essence of a feature genre and its linguistic nature. The purpose of our research is to made the analytical review of the existing approaches to defning the notion of feature text and outlining the role and leading functions of a modern English newspaper. Based on the analysis of available research, the article identifes the following main features of the language of newspapers: saving language resources, concise presentation and at the same time informative load; the use of clear words and phrases; the use of socio-political terminology, the presence of speech clichés, stamps; rethinking the vocabulary of other functional styles. It is noted that the English newspaper text is syntactically concise. In interpretation, it requires more background knowledge, since there is a lapidary expression that is conditioned by the law of saving time and place. It is revealed that the language of the modern newspaper is characterized by a concise presentation, combined with information load and the use of linguistic means that are understandable to a wide audience. The following leading functions of the modern English language newspaper have been distinguished: information; entertaining; educational; advertising; ideological; expressive; emotional impact. It should be noted that all functions are closely linked and implemented in newspaper publications in one combination or another. It is determined that feature is a special material, newspaper article does not concern news. The subjects of such texts are very diverse and cover the whole range of topics enclosed in the media: from politics and business to culture, sports and education. Feature genre texts focus readers on the pressing issues of modern society and reflect their individual author’s vision. It has been argued that the application of exotisms in media texts is used to attract the reader’s attention and is associated with an aesthetic, expressive and informative function. The usage of exotisms in the feature texts provides the language with imagery and makes it more emotional, which is consistent with the principles of modern media.
