Вивчення діалектики взаємин соціальної та психологічної природи влади становить важливий аспект психологічного аналізу політичних відносин. Одним із центральних концептів інтеракційної психології влади є поняття «владної легітимності», тобто сприйняття громадянами влади як законної і справедливої. Довіра є фактором підтримки легітимності влади та ефективної взаємодії між владою і громадянами.
