Mobile applications for language learning and their integration into the educational process

Abstract

The use of mobile applications provides individualised learning by allowing materials to be tailored to the needs of each student, and stimulates motivation through interactive elements and gamification. Such applications often offer a variety of learning formats, from interactive lessons to video communication with native speakers, which facilitates deeper immersion in the language environment and the development of communication skills. The article describes some mobile applications for learning foreign languages, including Duolingo, Memrise, Babbel, Rosetta Stone and HelloTalk. Their positive aspects are highlighted and the ways of their integration into the educational process are determined (applications can be used for interactive classes where students communicate with native speakers or other students; mobile applications complement traditional teaching methods, creating a more effective and interesting learning environment; mobile applications in the educational process play a significant motivating factor; teachers can use mobile applications to do homework and repeat material in an interactive and interesting way). Використання мобільних додатків забезпечує індивідуалізацію навчання, дозволяючи адаптувати матеріали під потреби кожного студента, а також стимулює мотивацію завдяки інтерактивним елементам та гейміфікації. Такі додатки часто пропонують різноманітні формати навчання – від інтерактивних уроків до спілкування з носіями мови через відеозв'язок, що сприяє більш глибокому зануренню у мовне середовище та розвитку навичок спілкування. У статті дано характеристику деяким мобільним додаткам для вивчення іноземних мов, зокрема Duolingo, Memrise, Babbel, Rosetta Stone та HelloTalk. Виокремлено їхні позитивні сторони і визначено шляхи їх інтеграції в навчальний процес (додатки можна використовувати для проведення інтерактивних занять, де студенти спілкуються з носіями мови або іншими студентами; мобільні додатки доповнюють традиційні методи викладання, створюючи більш ефективне та цікаве навчальне середовище; мобільні додатки у навчальному процесі відіграють роль значного мотивуючого фактора; викладачі можуть використовувати мобільні додатки для виконання домашніх завдань і повторення матеріалу в інтерактивній та цікавій формі; мобільні додатки можна інтегрувати у навчальний процес для поліпшення вимови, навичок слухання та говоріння, в тому числі з носіями мови).
